“’I am the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End,’ says the Lord,
‘who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.’”
Revelation 1:8

In the opening passages of the Book of Revelation, Jesus Christ declares that he is God, the One who has no beginning and who always will be. This book was written in Greek, and Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, with Omega being the last. A closer look at this might remind the reader of another passage that says a similar thing in a similar way.

“In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1

What can we glean from these two passages in which the Lord puts himself forth as the “Word?”

Scientists have been trying for a long time to discover the “God particle,” some basic, foundational element from which everything “evolved.” But the Creator has revealed that there isn’t such an element. He said that he SPOKE everything into existence. In other words, nothing was created from some matter that pre-existed, no, creation took place by the verbal command of the Lord. Creation was created by the “Word.”

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Genesis 1:3

Looking further in Genesis chapter 1, the Scripture goes on to describe the creation, with everything coming into being when the Lord said, “Let there be…”

“By the WORD of the Lord the heavens were made,
and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.”
Psalm 33 6

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed
by the WORD of God…”
Hebrews 11:1

Some believe that religion doesn’t conflict with science and vice versa, but that tenet is naive. Mankind wants to reduce God into something we can understand, and if man can’t understand it, then it simply is refused, and herein lies the great divide. God cannot be reduced to something the human mind must understand. There are ministries devoted to proving God through science, and many of their arguments are worthy. But there comes a point when the essence and ways of God are beyond the finding out.

“Oh, the depth of the riches
both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable are his judgments
AND HIS WAYS PAST FINDING OUT!”
Romans 11:33

“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to your trust,
avoiding profane and vain babblings,
AND OPPOSITIONS OF SCIENCE FALSELY SO CALLED,
which some professing have erred concerning the faith.”
1st Timothy 6:20-21

Scientists think they’ve found “the God particle,” but on further probing they will discover that even that had a source. There is only so far that science can go, because the truth of the matter is that the origin of all things created is actually a WORD. And that’s where truth and science part ways.
